No words can fully describe how much Ralph and I appreciated your allowing us to experience the Rio Colorado tarpon fishing.
From the moment we arrived in San Jose, you and your staff looked after us in a way that reflects so positively on your selection and training of personnel and on your skillful management of resources. The lodge and out buildings were in tip-top shape, marking an attention to detail. The potted flowers, the hanging hammocks and rocking chairs on the dock, the covered walkways that led from building to building, the outstanding meals and the kind and gentle staff all made us feel so welcome. (Not to mention the pool, hot tub, massage parlors, and flat screen TVs.)
The guides were were extremely knowledgeable and friendly, instantly making us feel at home. Suggestions on technique were artfully given and our many ignorances were met with cheerful explanations.

This is the most upscale lodge in Barra del Colorado. They take their fishing seriously here -- theres a large selection of modern boats and equipment, as well as a full tackle shop -- but Silver King also emphasizes comfort. The rooms are immense, with two double beds, a desk and chair, luggage racks, fishing racks, air-conditioning, an overhead fan, and a roomy closet. The floors and walls are all varnished hardwood, and the ceilings are finished in bamboo. The entire complex is built on raised stilts and connected by covered walkways (useful during the frequent downpours).
The meals here are truly exceptional, with some of the best buffet-style lodge cooking Ive ever had. Each all-you-can-eat meal is anchored with at least two main dishes and a wide variety of appetizers, salads, side dishes, and desserts. You should be eating plenty of fish during your stay -- coconut-battered snook nuggets with a pineapple-wasabi dip were just one of the highlights of my culinary indulgences here. These folks also have a photographer snapping away digital shots of all the offshore action and give you a personalized CD of photos from your stay at no extra cost. |

These include liquor, beer and soft drinks. Imported liquors are charged at a rate of $5.00 per drink. Although Tarpon and Snook, as well as many other offshore species, can be caught year around, heavy rains during certain months make fishing more difficult and less enjoyable.

January thru June are popular times for fishing as well as September, October and November. The later three offering exceptional Giant Tarpon action with plenty of 150 Lb. plus fish available
